Crescent Update 2

As my readers know, I did two posts on the Crescent of Embrace. My first post, A Crescent of Ignorance, and my second post Crescent Update both showed how, unintentionally apparently, this memorial was being built in a shape which represents Islam. Here is a rotated picture of the design in question.

Some new information is now out there. First off, CAIR has gotten involved. A Republican in Colorado said he was worried about the possible problems the shape of the monument could present. He has now been branded as an Islamaphobe.
(CNSNews.com) - An Islamic advocacy group is blasting a U.S. lawmaker for his "Islamophic" comments on the design of a memorial to the 40 people who died when Flight 93 crashed in a Pennsylvania farm field on Sept. 11, 2001.
As the Washington Post reported on Tuesday, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) believes that the crescent-shaped design of the memorial to Flight 93 victims could invite controversy and criticism "because of the crescent's prominent use as a symbol in Islam -- and the fact that the hijackers were radical Islamists."
"The invocation of a Muslim symbol" -- whether intentional or not -- "is unsuitable for paying appropriate tribute to the heroes of Flight 93 or the ensuing American struggle against radical Islam," Tancredo wrote, according to the Washington Post..
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) dismissed Tancredo's comments as a cynical political ploy designed to gain national attention.
"Representative Tancredo once again demonstrates his anti-Muslim bias and his thirst for publicity," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "He apparently believes he can only gain attention on the national political stage by fabricating a false controversy based on bizarre Internet conspiracy theories."
So because he was worried about the shape of this monument, which is in an obvious crescent, he is branded as an Islamaphobe. It's ridiculous. We cannot deny that it was Radical Islam that attacked us on 9/11, and the memorial, whether intentionally or not, is a large Islamic Symbol.

Good news, however is coming out of this. The architect hasn't given specifics, but he is considering changing the design. I am still skeptical until the design is changed, but this is an obvious victory.
