Addicted to Mitt

A couple news stories and editorials have come out over the last couple days praising Mitt Romney. They talk about how he's already managing to overcome his "liberal" image and he's one of the most "Presidential" candidates in the pack. They also talk about how big-name stars are signing on to his campaign. To the stories...

JEB BUSH STEERS ADVISERS TOWARD ROMNEY

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jeb Bush, who hasn't publicly picked a favorite in the Republican presidential race, privately is talking up the candidacy of Mitt Romney and steering some of his closest advisers to the campaign.

The former Florida governor has said repeatedly he won't be a candidate in 2008 despite encouragement from his father, the former president, and his brother, the current one. But Jeb Bush's support, even tacit, would be critical in the state that decided the 2000 presidential election.

The entire article outlines Jeb's support of Romney, and how some of his supporters are going with him. Jeb's former Lieutenant Governor is firmly entrenched in the Romney camp, as are some of those famous Bush money-raisers. In addition, some leftists are pretty smitten with Mitt.

If all that reads like cheap armchair psychoanalysis of the candidates and the voters, go to Mitt TV and see what I mean. I scared myself. I believe the Iraq war is a nearly criminal enterprise. I’m a social-cultural leftie who wants the government out of my bedroom and away from my body. But I was nearly mesmerized by a guy whose religion I consider akin to a cult, whose Iraq war support angers me and whose posturing against gays I find obnoxious.

So, I find it kind of appalling that I find him appealing.

Political seduction is a powerful drug.

Romney has a draw unseen since the age of Reagan, which is why I think he can win, despite his flaws. Yes, he's a Mormon. Yes, he's become more Conservative in the past 13 years (which he attributes to gaining wisdom). Yes, he can overcome these obstacles and become the next President of the United States.

When I think of Reagan, the

When I think of Reagan, the only person who is even close is Romney.
