Giuliani and Judges

Conservatives supporting Giuliani have been running with the idea that Giuliani would "appoint strict Constructionists." They use this to say that it doesn't matter what Giuliani thinks on abortion or gay marriage, because the Constitution will supercede. The only problem for the Rudy camp is that he, as a mayor, has a track record.
GIULIANI-APPOINTED JUDGES TEND TO LEAN TO THE LEFT
"I would want judges who are strict constructionists because I am," he told South Carolina Republicans last month. "Those are the kinds of justices I would appoint -- Scalia, Alito and Roberts."
But most of Giuliani's judicial appointments during his eight years as mayor of New York were hardly in the model of Chief Justice John Roberts or Samuel Alito -- much less aggressive conservatives in the mold of Antonin Scalia.
The article goes on to cite some specifics, such as the fact that he appointed Democrats 8 times more than he appointed Republicans. Gay judges, judges that condone baby-killing, religion-bashing judges... he appointed 'em all. Why don't you slap a (D) next to his name and call it a day?
