Update2: I'm meeting and greeting with Veterans here at the hotel, and they are some of the most interesting people I've met in my life. First off, on numbers, one Vet doesn't expect more than 5,000 but said if we hit that number, we'll be doing great. Another? Expects up to 40,000. Also, I've heard some interesting stories. One of the most interesting stories I heard was about a Vietnam Vet who arrived back in Chicago, only to be insulted and spit on by an anti-war goon. He punched the goon in the face. A Chicago police officer came over and the Vet prepared to be arrested, only to be welcomed home by the member of the Chicago PD. The police officer shook his hand and carted off the anti-war goon. We're hearing jokes about different branches of the military, listening to people recall events from years past, and watching a gathering of brothers get to know each other once again. It's amazing. Update: First off, I met Kit and Heidi from Euphoric Reality. They were both very nice and seemed really busy so I let them tend to the swarms of pro-America vets that have arrived at our hotel. While riding the metro, I spotted a couple ANSWER goons which looked more like high school rejects than renowned open-minded socialists. How the hell does ANSWER manage to mobilize tens of thousands of drugged out teens all the time? Anyways, tomorrow is going to be cold, wet, and amazing. More updates as they come...
I have arrived in Arlington, Virginia to attend the Gathering of Eagles tomorrow in Washington, D.C.. I'm just getting settled in and it's pouring outside, but I'm looking forward to getting outside and getting to the memorial and rally site. The hotel I'm at is swamped with veterans, and I'd post pictures but unfortunately, I forgot the USB uplink for my camera. I'll be bringing you as many updates as I can from here in D.C.. Stay tuned.
