Fred Thompson and Abortion

Abortion is an issue I care very passionately about, because I believe we need a candidate who supports a culture of life. I literally think that abortion is murder, those I won't support a pro-choice candidate. Fred Thompson is pro-life, but at some point (as recently as 1994) he was in support of "women's choice." This could be a dealbreaker. Wild Bill is looking for Thompson's 'coming to Jesus moment.'

Fred, when was your coming to Jesus moment about baby murder? I believe you are the best candidate so far for president in 2008, however I cannot support or endorse you for president until this question is answered. If I find out Fred Thompson has changed his view to get votes then I will not vote for him. If on the other hand Fred has had an honest to God coming to Jesus moment I would love to hear the details.

The thing is, this is could

The thing is, this is could be the bullet in the head to a Thompson run. Many people were calling for him to run because the most Conservative of the "top tier" candidates (Mitt Romney) had changed positions on social issues. People were elevating Thompson as a "true conservative." Now though, Thompson finds himself in the exact same position as Romney: a conservative with a switch on social issues who made comments supporting abortion in 1994.

This could be the end of a potential Thompson Bid

Like I said he can change

Like I said he can change his mind that's fine but he needs to be able to fully explain when and why he changed his mind.

The majority of candidates

The majority of candidates running(on both sides) usually change they're views based on what the people want to hear. He probably didn't even have a "moment" at all. He's just changing his opinion so you'll vote for him. And for him to through god in there is a good move. All the good ol americans will pick him then.

And by the way - the "bullet

And by the way - the "bullet to the head" is the one Romney keeps putting in his own - his lies about being a life-long hunter are crap - and he got busted on it. Not to mention introducing government mandated socialized medicine, weapons bands, etc.

Nope - there is a reason Romney spend over 14 million and is still running 3rd or worse nationally: people see through him, and all your attacks on others will not hide the flaws Romney has.

He changed his mind after

He changed his mind after serious consideration in 1996. His interview withthe Pro-Life director back then make this clear it was a change due to findamental beleif. His votes in Congress from 1994 onward were solidly pro-life. Unlike Romney who in 2002 was still vowing to defend the right to choose and to protect and preserve the laws that allow abortion. Don;t believe it? Go watch the video on YouTube.

Matt-A - stop spreading disinformation about Thompson. Fix the lies your candidate tells and his non-conservative issues, and his pandering and insincerity. Multiple-Choice Mitt is not the right person to send to DC.
