Liberal Lunatic Keith Ellison

Justin Higgins — Mon, 2007-07-16 19:33

America's first muslim Congressman Keith Ellison is a liberal lunatic, for a couple reasons. First off, there's a lot of talk that he may be a truther, like our good friend Heather, who believes 9/11 was an inside job. Watching him speak, that's not a stretch. He believes 9/11 is an enabling event, apparently being used as an excuse for torture. I'd like to see some evidence. Oh, and he of course compares Bush to Hitler.

First off, to answer the question proposed about Dick Cheney and which branch he belongs in, it's the legislative branch. The Constitution gives Cheney no executive powers, and he's only the head of the Senate. That being said, Cheney is involved in meetings with people IN the executive branch, thus his invoking executive priveledge (this came up regarding prior conversations with the Secretary of Energy). Secondly, we're not torturing people, and of course 9/11 was a monumental event in human history. If Ellison wasn't too busy talking to terrorists, just like Ted Strickland, he might realize the importance of 9/11.

As a Minnesotan...

Todd Anthony — Thu, 2007-07-19 23:59

I'm ashamed that this guy represents my great state. This guy is a character, to be polite. Prior to becoming a public servant, he was a litigator and de facto community leader, as well as a card-carrying member of the Nation of Islam. Furthermore, in his days prior to being a congressman, he figuratively slept with CAIR and appeared a rallies with gang bangers (i.e the Minneapolis Vice Lords), with whom a few of them were known cop killers...

True humor

m.e.atbrain — Tue, 2007-07-17 20:18

"This is getting funnier and funnier the more I find."

The funny part is this: No one can provide a quote from the video in which Ellison actually compares Bush to Hitler.

But remember, kids: In Cao's little fantasy world, truth is determined solely by counting headlines. Facts don't matter.

gotta protect the leftard attack, heh, Meaty?

cao — Tue, 2007-07-17 20:15

Move over, Dick Durbin. Another Dem compares Bush to Hitler.

This is getting funnier and funnier the more I find. And there are 43,200 websites that refer to this! I could be posting links to them in here for a long time!

"Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties; write its precepts on your hearts and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book we are indebted for the progress made, and to this we must look as our guide in the future."--

on Grant...

cao — Tue, 2007-07-17 19:49

Had Grant truly been either a drunk or an alcoholic, he would have been replaced early in the war; General Halleck, his superior, certainly looked for excuses to depose him. But Lincoln hung on. "I can't spare this man, he fights." And, in the end, Lincoln was proved right.

Depending upon their prejudices, Grant biographers emphasize or downplay the alcohol dilemma.

And we know you're not prejudiced at all, lol--because it's against the laws of liberalism to discriminate!

That's why you can't see what it is that Ellison said there, and refused to admit it.

The epitome of indiscriminateness...just like Evan Sayet said in his Heritage House speech.

"Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties; write its precepts on your hearts and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book we are indebted for the progress made, and to this we must look as our guide in the future."--

Who's ignorant?

cao — Tue, 2007-07-17 19:44

The guy who can't piece together what regime Ellison was talking about, or the guy who's trying to pin Justin down because Ellison didn't use the name "Hitler" but made the Bushitler point? C'mon, that's idiotic nitpicking...but it's the signature of loony leftyland...

"Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties; write its precepts on your hearts and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book we are indebted for the progress made, and to this we must look as our guide in the future."--

so stupid you all are

cao — Tue, 2007-07-17 19:32

stupid is as stupid does...

I read something very funny at Blame Bush the other day...a great take on how things government operates very differently than they do in the free marketplace. Take it with a block of salt:

The noise over Bush's illegal and immoral abuse of Presidential pardoning powers will rival the fireworks during tomorrow's National Day of Shame,. But after all the smoke has cleared, few will have bothered to ask the more important question: Does George "Scooter" Libby's "punishment" fit his crime? Does he deserve any kind of mercy?

Let's face it, he didn't exactly murder an entire family, molest any children, or gun down some Federal agents - so his crimes are totally inexcusable. He isn't Black, Latino, or a Kennedy, and therefore not above the law. Most of all, he hasn't made any outward displays of repentance, such as penning a children's book or contributing to the Clinton campaign. All Libby has offered in the way of an explanation for ruining Valerie Plame's life is that he has a lousy memory - but if there's a single paper cut on his genitals I have yet to see it.

This whole thing smacks of favoritism. Just another example of the elitist Repugnitards muddying the waters of a Judicial system we progressives have valiantly kept a nice yellowish hue for decades.

always good to promote libtard stupidity....

cao — Tue, 2007-07-17 19:31

Many of the drinking stories come from battlefield politics. Jealous Northern generals who could find no other way to discredit this brilliant man who was delivering battlefield victories to President Lincoln, spread malicious rumors about Grant being drunk on the job. There were stories, there were innuendoes, there were suppositions. But, in truth, there are NO RELIABLE witnesses of any drunkenness on the part of Grant during the Civil War.

But that doesn't stop libtards from promoting the stupidity...and they have something like that to say about all the founding fathers.

They're white racist slaveowners...lol

You guys are so full of it I can smell it from my computer screen

You guys are anti-everything, making the most stupid discombobulated arguments possible.

So he didn't say the word "hitler". He described the regime, and said Cheney was totalitarian because he didn't answer questions.

More claims. Zero facts.

m.e.atbrain — Mon, 2007-07-16 23:08

"Technically MH Cheney belongs to both those branches of government depending upon what function he is serving."

And this claim is supported by what legislation, exactly?

"What he said was that an Executive Order did not apply to him."

Quote the exact statement Cheney made that supports this claim, please.

"By putting it the way he did, he compared Bush to Hitler..."

Quote the exact sentence in the video in which Ellison directly compares Bush to Hitler.

"They describe injuries and conclude homicide."

Yes, they do. If the death by homicide of an Iraqi prisoner who showed clear evidence of having been tied and beaten is not indicative of torture, what evidence would you accept as being probative of torture?

"You drew those conclusions from the descriptions of the wounds, they very thing you told Justin not to do about Ellison."

I said nothing to Justin about drawing conclusions. I did not suggest that Justin should stop doing anything. Kindly stop lying.

Meat for brains

Big Dog (not verified) — Mon, 2007-07-16 22:48

Technically MH Cheney belongs to both those branches of government depending upon what function he is serving. What he said was that an Executive Order did not apply to him. The departments that it covered did not include him so THAT EO did not apply. He is not part of the executive as tat EO applies.

If you want to blast Justin for not listening to the tape (and by the way, he said that 9/11 reminded him of what Hitler did and then he said we know who benefited from 9/11 and one of the crowd yells Bush. By putting it the way he did, he compared Bush to Hitler and only an idiot fails to see that).

However, you were not paying attention in class. The reports you site do not mention torture. They describe injuries and conclude homicide. They do not say homicide by torture, just homicide. People are victims of homicide every day and are not tortured. You drew those conclusions from the descriptions of the wounds, they very thing you told Justin not to do about Ellison.

Don't let the facts screw up your hatred for this country.

The Reichstag: February 27, 1934

Allan Strickland — Mon, 2007-07-16 22:47

"The coincidence that the Nazis had found a demented Communist arsonist who was out to do exactly what they themselves had determined to do seems incredible but is nevertheless supported by the evidence." - William L. Shirer, "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"

According to the most reliable accounts of the Reichstag fire referenced in this ridiculous speech by Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison, the Nazis fashioned the burning of the government building to instill the fear of a Communist revolution in Germany. The German people had already seen the Russian Communist revolution at work in 1917, and the Communist Party in Germany had an uneasy level of support with 10-15% of the vote and representation in the Reichstag and German state parliaments under the Weimar Republic. Communism was fast on the rise in Spain, and Communism would soon plunge that country into Civil War in 1935 - just one year after the burning of the Reichstag.

So with the rise of Communism on the international scene and revolution a looming threat in Germany and Spain, Hindenburg and the German parliament gave Hitler, then Germany's Chancellor, virtually unlimited power to keep the peace and suppress Communism in Germany. The people generally supported this move. Although there was much suspicion on Goering and Hitler with respect to the burning of the Reichstag, it was essentially overlooked by the public as the Nazi Party was preferable to the Communist Party among the Germans.

As with the Pearl Harbor attack of December 7, 1942 (which plunged the United States into a world war), there is a high degree of suspicion that the government knew that an attack was imminent, but took no necessary actions to prevent it. Even while this remains a sinister possibility (that either Bush or someone in the US Government knew that 9/11 was about to happen), it is irrelevant to the argument that the attack was planned and executed by Muslims and that this attack was exploited by President Bush for political purposes. However, only a lunatic could suggest that Bush had any involvement in the planning of the attacks of 9/11.

Ellison's rant suggests that Bush was involved with the attacks of 9/11 in the same way that Hitler was involved with the Reichstag fire of 2/27. It remains a half-truth, since Bush did exploit the attack to rally America behind an war effort. However, Hitler did what he did in order to seize power in Germany. President Bush, on the other hand, was elected by the people and inaugurated as America's President on January 20, 2001. In 2009, he leaves office. For good. He has no reason to consolidate his power through such treachery.

Gotta protect that ignorance

m.e.atbrain — Mon, 2007-07-16 22:35

"Now that's pretty damned close, Meaty."

Funny. I look at Justin's article, and what I see is:

"Oh, and he of course compares Bush to Hitler."

Justin didn't say that Ellison came pretty damned close to comparing Bush to Hitler. He said that Ellision did compare Bush to Hitler. But when the facts do not support Justin's claim, Cao can be counted upon to wave the facts away and mumble that it's "pretty damn close". Remember this, boys and girls: when someone claims that so-and-so said something, and it turns out that in fact they didn't say what is claimed, just backpedal a couple paces, and whine that what they said was "pretty damn close". The facts don't matter -- the smear must be protected at all costs!

"Ellison compared Bush to Hitler."

Quote the exact sentence in the video in which Ellison directly compares Bush to Hitler.

"Watch the video..."

I did. At no point in the video does Ellison mention Bush. That's called a "fact". Facts are things that Ogre routinely ignores.

"...read the transcript..."

What transcript?

"External injuries including multiple contusions are consistent with injuries sustained during apprehension."

That statement does not explain the fractured ribs -- those would be an internal injury. Nor does that statement explain the ligature marks. Nor does that statement explain how the Iraqi in question died in detention, not during capture. Ogre chooses to ignore those facts.

Facts do not matter to the Ogres, Caos, and Justins of this world. Gotta protect that Invincible Ignorance™.

Definitely over the edge

Kat (not verified) — Mon, 2007-07-16 22:27

I think Ellison is seriously misguided, and also very unhelpful to America when we are at war. If he had said something similar in WW2, he would have been rightly turned on as seditious, and possibly brought up on charges.

This sort of rhetoric helps no one.

Justin, your comment about which branch of the government Cheney belongs to is a d'uh! moment for me. Truly, he has no real Constitutional power, other than as President of the Senate. The fact that recent Presidents have delegated duties to the VP doesn't negate that.

But, it's a very interesting video. Frankly, even if a Republican senator were levying such accusations and innuendos against a Democrat(ick) President, I would think he was going overboard.

Gadzooks, it makes me wonder if something in the water reacts with politicians' brains to turn them ALL into mush!

Hey look, it's

Ogre (not verified) — Mon, 2007-07-16 21:55

Hey look, it's meat-for-brains and his fantasy world again!

Facts from the actual world, not the make-believe land that is in meatbrain's head (and there's really not much point in mentioning these because if meatbrain decides that it's not a fact, then it simply does not exist in his fantasy land):

Ellison compared Bush to Hitler. Anyone who denies that actually believes that Bush personally placed bombs that brought down the world trade center. Watch the video, read the transcript (the one included here stops just short of the comparison).

As for the example listed by meathead about the torture, read your own world, looney: "External injuries including multiple contusions are consistent with injuries sustained during apprehension." During apprehension. Nah, why bother to explain it -- there is absolutely no way to interject facts into meatbrain's world.
