ROTR Flashback- Hitler Youth
Justin Higgins — Fri, 2007-07-20 14:01
The story which got poor Roger's dander floating up into the air conditioning vents was the plaintive wailing of Darlene over a story (sourced by no less an august source than her mom) that the Post Office would issue new holiday stamps this year. They allegedly went with a "Holiday Cookies" theme instead of pictures of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. This not only enraged Roger, saddened Darlene's Mom (soon to be named the new managing editor of Knight Ridder, I believe), and sent Darlene scurrying for her keyboard, but got Ann
CoulterAlthouse into a tizzy and sent theHitlerBush Youth bustling off to strap on their jackboots and take to the streets.
Now:
I got this little e-mail only 2 days ago, in response to the various stories I posted about Keith Ellison and his comparison between Bush and Hitler:
Are you a shit-faced idiot? Ellison was being honest, telling the world how 9/11 was no more of a reasoning for going into Iraq as the Reichstag fire was a reasoning for attacking the commies in Russia. If you had half a brain in your Nazi-indoctrinated head you would know that September 11th was an inside job. Bush has American blood on his fascist hands.
Some things don't change in two years...

Ellison's Hitler remark
Todd Dugdale (not verified) — Sun, 2007-07-22 15:52I think you are incorrectly interpreting what Ellison said. My reading is that he was saying that, just as Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag as a political opportunity, so Bush used 9/11 as a political opportunity. Without 9/11 Bush would have probably been a one-term President. He used 9/11 to make a discredited link to Saddam to justify the invasion, and he continues to use it to justify continuing our involvement in the Iraqi civil war.
While you may disagree with my assessments of Bush, it seems clear to me that a Democrat would frame things in those terms. Basically he called Bush a political opportunist, and used Hitler as an analogy of another political opportunist. Again, the issue is what Ellison meant, not how you may feel about Bush or Hitler.
I would also remind you that Hitler was elected. Since Bush was also elected, does that mean I am saying Hitler and Bush have the same agenda? No.
Just ask this guy, if it was
Anonymous (not verified) — Fri, 2007-07-20 16:30Just ask this guy, if it was going to be an "inside job" why didn't they make the hijackers "iraqis"? Why didn't they "plant WMDs"? Last but not least, why are you a "complete useful idiot".
