Bias in the Newsroom

This morning Joe Scarborough talked about bias in the newsroom. MSNBC folks were booing the President during the State of the Union. NewsBusters was on it very quickly, even prompting Scarborough to say they operate with "ruthless efficiency." Newsbusters also covered the Seattle story that triggered it all. Video:

...just throwing this out....
cloydnobler — Sat, 2007-09-29 19:39If it's important enough to refer to one of the two major US political parties as "the Democrat Party" (nix the -ic), words and labels matter.
To further stake out our semantic territory: There is what people who pay attention label "the mainstream media". I don't remember seeing a term to capture everthing else. Keeping in mind that maintream media is increasingly an extension of "Media Matters.com", I propose that quality news sources be referred to as "the alternative media". The label "alternative media" for Fox News, a handful of newpapers, "the Drudge Report",(you get the idea) is correct and appropriate. "Alternative", when applied to music and many other things has acquired the connotation of "fresh", "hip", and so on. Not the same tired old thing.
Conservatives and Libertatians should refer to their reliable news sources as alternative media.
To hell with the "Fairness Doctrine".
