Blogging Meets MSM in Ohio
Justin Higgins — Mon, 2007-09-24 19:54
Here and there main stream media sites combine with New Media and create a collaborative environment set for growth. It's especially nice when the bloggers involved aren't the same tired MSM voices. Here's a great example.
The Plain Dealer has combined with some notable Ohio bloggers including Tom Blumer from BizzyBlog to create a new MSM-blog called Wide Open. Here's a little excerpt from the introduction post on Wide Open:
Today the Ohio blogosphere and the traditional media come together in a new, more collaborative relationship through WIDE OPEN, a new blog hosted by cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.
Written by four of the state's leading political bloggers -- Jill Miller Zimon, Tom Blumer, Jeff Coryell and Dave -- WIDE OPEN will be a no-holds-barred discussion of Ohio politics we hope to continue through the 2008 election and beyond. Our hope is that you, too, will participate through the comments.
The rules are pretty much "there are no rules," which is great. The bloggers involved can criticize the Plain Dealer, the website, and Ohio political figures as much as they want. Tom is a pretty good blogger, as are a few of the others (on both sides) involved, so stop over and give them some positive input. Hugh Hewitt took notice of the new blog and of the Indians clinch.
