Iraq to Christians: Come Home
Justin Higgins — Sun, 2007-11-18 17:06
Michael Yon brought the world an amazing image of hope and unity when he posted an image online of Iraqis helping to rebuild a church. I blogged about that snapshot, which I believe may prove to be the Iwo Jima moment of the surge, if it gets the attention it deserves. FOX News helped share Yon's story, and his most recent photo essay deserves just as much attention. Here's one photo and caption:

The ceremony was long and very Catholic, and since I was not raised Catholic, I would not have understood most of it even if it were all in English. But some of the American soldiers understood what was going on, and they said it was good.
Yon goes on to describe the scene, saying that many in attendence were muslims who wanted their Christian neighbors to come home. If that isn't unity between sects, I don't know what is. Iraq is changing, and the world needs to see it. Thank you Michael Yon.

Im happy=
looneyontheleft — Wed, 2007-11-21 17:47=that these stories get play. It takes the steam out of the whole 'they're a bunch of animals over there' arguments and comments you hear from the fringe right.
Obviously Christianity started there, and Christians will always want to live there in some capacity. Hopefully the world will get to the point where all peoples can visit and live (in some capacity) wherever they want.
I am surprised
Always_right337 (not verified) — Wed, 2007-11-21 11:23All you ever hear about are the extreme Muslims, who wish to take out all of the Christians. Maybe I am just one of those people who sterotype, but I find this kind of unbelievable. Thank God there is still hope for Christianity over there.
Now all we need is for some Americans to find Christianity, then I will be really shocked...
I think it is cute-
looneyontheleft — Mon, 2007-11-19 13:24-how shocked you are that there's people in Iraq who get along with other religions and sects and all that. This goes back a thousand years over there. Why the Christians were putting jews and muslims and heretics to the sword, all a goyum or a jew had to do in a Muslim land was pay a tax and generally could live as they wished.
Those damned tax and spend Muslims!
BUT-
There's always going to be people and peoples over there who hate ____________ and want to kill them and toss them out. Kind of like here, and in every other country in the world.
