Why I Can't Support Mike Huckabee
Justin Higgins — Sat, 2007-12-15 14:33
I am going to be participating in a local straw poll on Tuesday, and I had planned to vote for Mike Huckabee, despite his tax policy. Unfortunately, my position has changed since then. Hot Air has some foreign policy talk from Huckabee, that kills any chance of my support:

“American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out. The Bush administration’s arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States’ main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists…"
All Republicans are upset that the Bush administration hasn't executed the War in Iraq in the most efficient way, but "arrogant bunker mentality"? He's sounding like a Democrat, bashing a doctrine that has kept the United States safe since September 11th. Our fight in Afghanistan has been largely effective, and the War in Iraq is turning around. Neither conflict has been counterproductive. What's worse is, he pulls an Obama and talks about negotiating with Iran:
Sun-tzu’s ancient wisdom is relevant today: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Yet we have not had diplomatic relations with Iran in almost 30 years; the U.S. government usually communicates with the Iranian government through the Swiss embassy in Tehran. When one stops talking to a parent or a friend, differences cannot be resolved and relationships cannot move forward. The same is true for countries. The reestablishment of diplomatic ties will not occur automatically or without the Iranians’ making concessions that serve to create a less hostile relationship…
Iran isn't a country that can be compared to a friend or parent. Iran has been backing terrorists in Iraq, and has been pursuing nuclear technology that could be used to build nuclear weapons. The War on Terrorism is the most important issue of our time, and Mike Huckabee is wrong on the issue. Consider this a dealbreaker...

Count this as one of the
VikingSpirit — Sat, 2007-12-15 16:44Count this as one of the many reasons I will not vote for Huckasuck in a primary or general election. I'll vote third party or vote for a Democrat before I ever cast a vote for Huckasuck.
Huckasuck would realign the GOP to a party that isn't a Conservative party.
I'm thinking the spending
Ogre (not verified) — Sat, 2007-12-15 14:58I'm thinking the spending and tax issues is too much for me. Together with a Democrat Congress, I predict Huckabee would increase spending more than Clinton and Bush I COMBINED in 2 years. Then he'd be "forced" to raise taxes.
Now Ron Paul, he wouldn't raise taxes. And while he might talk to Iran, keep in mind -- he's not against using force and military might -- Paul just wants Congress to declare war and NOT the U.N!
