Dems Plan on Attacking OH-16

ROTR- Boccieri and TedI've been covering some local Ohio races, mainly spotlighting OH-18, OH-02, and OH-16. The OH-16 race should prove to be an interesting one, especially since the latest news is the Dems are planning on dumping cash into the seat to make it theirs. That's the latest news from CQ Politics:

John Boccieri, Ohio’s 16th (Northeast — Canton). Boccieri, a state senator and military veteran, will face the winner of a Republican primary that includes state Sen. Kirk Schuring and Matt Miller, a county commissioner from the western end of this district anchored by the city of Canton. Boccieri — who began his campaign for the 2008 election well before Republican Rep. Ralph Regula said he would not seek a 19th term — is the preferred candidate of Democratic officials. He did, though, draw a last-minute challenge in the March 4 primary from Mary Cirelli, a veteran officeholder in Canton.

The picture above and to the right is of Boccieri, the likely Democrat in the race, being all chummy with Ted Strickland. On the Republican side, I've yet to make an endorsement in the race between Schuring and Miller, and I've been in direct contact with both campaigns. I plan on doing some interviews and scoping out the candidates before I make any decisions. They have been sending me lots of great info however. For example, I received this update from Miller's campaign today:

( Ashland ) – Ashland County Commissioner Matt Miller recently received an important endorsement from one of Ohio ’s most prominent conservative organizations – Family First PAC.

Family First PAC is devoted to defending pro-life policies, traditional marriage, school choice, lower taxes and smaller government. They endorse candidates who have the best record of adhering to these basic principals.

“Matt Miller is the only candidate in this race that has balanced a budget without raising taxes. We need that type of fiscal conservatism in Washington ,” said Family First executive director, Lori Viars. She went on to say, “as we approach the 35th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision, it is important that Republicans in the 16th District choose a candidate who will defend the rights of the unborn. Matt Miller will do just that.”

What makes him a "whacko"?

What makes Schiffer a whacko, Bob1961?

Does the fact that that Schiffer played an integral part in getting the book "Unfit For Command" published, which ultimately led to the demise of the Euro-Socialist elite John Kerry's 2004 campaign, make him a "whacko"?

Does the fact that Schiffer spent many years leading on the front lines of the Pro-Life movement fighting for the lives of unborn children make him a whacko?

Does the fact that Schiffer worked to expose government corruption at the state and national levels make him a "whacko"?

Does the fact that Schiffer worked with U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, former Congressman Robert Barr, Robert Dorman, and the late Admiral Thomas Moore (former Joint Chief of Staff) in opposing Clinton's move to have the Red Chinese take over the entrance and exit ports of the Panama Canal make him a "whacko"?

Does the fact that Schiffer has spent many years as a conservative radio host exposing the threats against the United States such as illegal immigration and radical Islam make him a "whacko"?

Does the fact that Schiffer has sought to bring to light the plight of our POW's/MIA's make him a "whacko"?

Obviously you do not know very much about Schiffer or what makes him the best qualifed candidate for Congress.

You obviously have a lemming mentality that limits your perspective towards condidering only a candidate that is a moderate, establishment suit or a plastic candidate with the persona of a game-show host.

I made up my mind today. I

I made up my mind today. I am voting for Schuring.

If a liberal is a

If a liberal is a conservative who has never been mugged, Miller is a Republican who has never had to win an election. The more I read about him, the scarier he sounds.

16th District...again

Who said I wasn't supporting Schuring??? You've got to read more than blogs to be educated on candidates in any election. I admire Miller for stepping up to the plate and competeing against Regula a couple years ago. I was actually a foot soldier for Schuring in the past.

Both Miller and Schuring will win in November, no matter who opposes them. Miller is a rising star,Schuring is a tested warrior and that's why I said the establishment would support Schuring.

If you slowly read my previous post, the only candidate I wouldn't support is Schiffer.

Hey, Bob1961, are you dense?

Hey, Bob1961, are you dense? Why not support Schuring if he has the establishment behind him? We need someone that can carry the day. We need someone who can win. I havent seen Miller on the blogs anywhere accept for a few scattered posts and people like you. He is clearly not the guy we need this fall.

The Dems are desperate. I

The Dems are desperate. I cant believe their targeting this seat when they clearly have a dozen other seats, they already hold, that they should be worried about it.

16th District

I'm undecided on this race. Schuring will have the establishment and comes from a more affluent area as compared to Miller. Miller on the other hand opposed Regula and gave him a run for his money last primary season.Miller's outstanding performance, coming out of nowhere and nearly defeating the 19 year incumbent was the handwriting on the wall.

I would not have a problem supporting either one but deep down I feel Miller is the most conservative of the two. Schiffer who is also in the race is a bit of a whacko in my opinion.
