OH-18 Polls & Endorsement Update
- Posted by Justin Higgins on March 1st, 2008 in
There have been no polls released for the Republican race in Ohio's 18th, so I decided that we needed to commission our own poll. ROTR official pollster Steven Striewski and I decided to take to the phones. Full results were pretty inconclusive, with the race essentially being a two-way battle between Paul Phillips and Jeanette Moll. While Phillips holds a slight edge, a huge chunk of the district is still undecided. I might have some further demographics breakdowns as my coverage of this race continues. In district news, the Zanesville Times-Recorder has has endorsed Paul Phillips. It's worth noting that the Times-Recorder is essentially Jeanette Moll's hometown paper:
We believe Republicans should nominate Paul Phillips of Chillicothe.
Phillips is an attorney with an engineering degree. He was a deputy chief of weapons and tactics at Air Combat Command during his 20-year Air Force career.
He has sound ideas about the need to develop clean-coal technology and other high-tech industries. He certainly will keep the needs of Ohio's fighting men and women front and center. Phillips appears to understand the importance of small businesses to growing the state and national economies.
Without giving too much away, Paul Phillips had a remarkebly strong showing in Zanesville and the surrounding area, while Moll underperformed in her hometown. Still, the results showed it a very very close two-way race with lots of swing room. The next few days will be critical for both campaigns.

Clean Coal?
Old post but I just watched a news clip that was relevant...
