Military
They Both Sound Good

Barack Obama and John McCain both recorded messages about our nation's military families to be played before a LifeTime show, Army Wives. I've never seen the show, but both messages sound good. I have my doubts about Obama's plan for our military, but I enjoy seeing him give this message. Here's both men:

Update2: Are the letters unrelated? Hot Air has a post up discussing the bombing and who exactly is behind the attack. At this point, I think we need to say all options are still there.
Update: We now know that this was a politically-motivated attack, due to a series of letters sent to various Congressional offices, including but not limited to the Democrats that represent New York City in Congress. Via Yahoo News, emphasis mine:
The message on the card: “Happy New Year, We Did It.”
The envelope also contained a packet of approximately 10 sheets of paper that seemed to be a political manifesto railing against the Iraq war and a booklet. The aide didn’t know what the booklet was.
The Times Square terrorist attack from this morning is still unsolved, but I have a feeling that it won't stay that way. Hot Air brings us some surveillance video from the attack. From the smoke evidence, it looks pretty extreme:
Attempted Arson, Attempted Murder... And Treason
- Posted by Justin Higgins on March 6th, 2008 in
Update: Several readers are telling me that I could add a plethora of charges to the list, and I agree, but my main point was emphasizing that treason should be included. Also, I've been asked why I included attempted murder, when the recruiting station was empty. While it was early, the attacker couldn't be sure the area would be clear or empty, so given that the bomb could've killed, attempted murder should be on the list of charges.
In case you haven't heard, early this morning someone tossed an explosive at a Military Recruitment Center in Times Square. Whoever is found responsible should be tried for attempted arson, attempted murder, and something our government is unwilling to prosecute with, treason. An attack on the United States military is simply that, treason. The news from the Boston Herald:
An explosive device caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday, shaking guests in hotel rooms high above.
Police blocked off the area to investigate the explosion, which occurred at about 3:45 a.m., shattering the station’s glass entryway. No one was injured.
“If it is something that’s directed toward American troops than it’s something that’s taken very seriously and is pretty unfortunate,” said Army Capt. Charlie Jaquillard, who is the commander of Army recruiting in Manhattan.
This was no small attack. People blocks away said they felt the blast, which apparently shook the building and builings nearby. All of the major military branches used this building to recruit. As I said, attempted arson, attempted murder, and treason.

I'm not sure if I want to call this media stupidity or if I want to call this cool technology. I like the heat ray, but I have to think it'd find better use in breaking up riots than it would in warfare. Via Hot Air, the folks at 60 Minutes checked this thing out:
The McCain "Panama" Idiocy
- Posted by Justin Higgins on February 28th, 2008 in
I don't know if the New York Times is trying to derail McCain's candidacy, or throw out as many idiotic charges as possible in hopes of boosting his popularity amongst those that have brains and distrust the media. Their most recent attempt at a "drive-by" story questions whether or not McCain is eligible to run for President since he was born in the Panama Canal Zone to military parents. Their goal isn't to actually make the claim (they essentially say McCain is fine), but like a drive-by, cause chaos and get the leftists to cause a ruckus. Jim Geraghty of NRO has a response:
Having said that, a serious effort to argue that McCain is disqualified from being president will attempt to establish that a child of one American and one foreign-born parent is eligible for the presidency, but a child of two Americans, one a serving member of the U.S. Armed Forces, born in a U.S. territory (Coco Solo Air Base in the then-American-controlled Panama Canal Zone) is not.
Dear Democrats, please go down this road; Team McCain would like to ensure that their candidate's share of the military and veteran vote goes from 90 percent to 100 percent.
A second piece by Geraghty throws doubt on Obama's eligibility for possibly giving aid and comfort to a terrorist or terrorist group. It's a hard case to make, considering Obama didn't directly say he was friends with the man, but it's actually more plausible than the NYT charge.
