Right On The Right

I have just finished my Junior year in High School, and it seems like every year, I become a stronger, more outspoken Conservative. Since my teachers decide not to keep politics out of the classroom, I will gladly debate it there, and in the lunchroom, and in the hallways, and wherever else liberalism decides to rear its ugly head. What does it mean, however, to truly be an unabashed Conservative?

1. An unabashed Conservative will argue with a teacher for suggesting that Conservatism is close-minded, and a liberal education system should have more emphasis on liberal than education.

2. An unabashed Conservative can be confident that they're teaching more to the class through factual discussion than the teacher is teaching through her lesson plan.

3. When a school newspaper puts out a piece swamped with liberal propaganda, the unabashed Conservative will respond, with information and a good strategy of revealing the truth. They'll also employ tools like MySpace to make sure the response doesn't fall on deaf ears.

4. When a teacher tells the unabashed Conservative that he was out of line for responding to the liberal propaganda, he'll gladly point out the hypocrisy in the teacher's argument, and cry free press. He'll even stand up to the teacher when he suggests that the Conservative should "keep his disagreements in his head."

5. An unabashed Conservative will go on a tirade when the principal makes an announcement telling the student body to be more "tolerant" of each other. He'll also call it what it is, liberal bullcrap, to his Hillary-supporting teacher who questions him on it.

6. An unabashed Conservative will go ahead and roll with the punches when teachers put Republican-bashing political cartoons in his locker. He'll also make sure they get great Christmas presents from him when the time is right.

7. An unabashed Conservative will check out the picture the interim principal has with Hillary Clinton. He'll then make a joke about it, asking the principal if "he got pneumonia, from Hillary being so frigid."

8. The unabashed Conservative will not back down, will not shut up, and will not hold himself back due to political correctness. He'll challenge teachers intellectually, find humor in stupid arguments, and keep his cool in the face of adversity. He'll also allow his righteous indignation to flow when the time is right. The unabashed Conservative student is the stalwart defender of free thought and free speech, fighting his way through one of the most liberal institutions in American society, the public high school. The unabashed Conservative will raise up those below him, influence those around him, and carry truth like the shining light it is through the halls of the belly of the indoctrinating beast. I am the unabashed Conservative.
