Lofton Back, Tribe Wins

Last night I got out to Jacobs Field to see the Indians crush the Twins 10-4. Also, I found out on the way there that the Indians had traded a Minor League catcher for 90s phenom and former Indians superstar Kenny Lofton. He's 40 years old but is still hitting over .300 with over 20 stolen bases this season. He still got it. The Story:
As with any highly motivated quality ballplayer, Kenny Lofton cares about his personal statistics. But winning drives him - especially at this point of the season, this deep into his career.
His best-case scenario took place Friday.
After being traded from a team going nowhere (Texas) to a contender (the Tribe) during the day, Lofton did his part in a laugher at night. He went 3-for-5 with an RBI to help the Indians thump the Minnesota Twins, 10-4, at Jacobs Field.
Lofton batted second and started in left field to launch his third stint with the Indians.
"I didn't know what to expect as in me getting my nerves to calm down a little bit, but it was very touching just to get it out of the way and show the fans in Cleveland that I still have a little bit left," said Lofton, who was greeted with a standing ovation every time he came to the plate.
Although Lofton was the guest of honor at the Tribe's 60th victory celebration, shortstop Jhonny Peralta did his part to energize the homecoming party as he belted two homers and drove in five as the Indians improved to 6-0 against the Twins this season.
The Tribe goes up against Johan Santana tonight and as it stands they're just a half game behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. The Tigers are facing the tough LAA Angels club. Let's Go Tribe!

Update: Indians go down 1-0 in a tough pitcher's duel vs. the BoSox.
I've blogged quite a bit today so now I'm relaxing and watching the Cleveland Indians face the Boston Red Sox. Talk about a power of superpowers. If you want to see something amazing, watch this animation depicting The Impossible Return. I was at this amazing game.
