Taxes

They'll Raise Your Taxes

Via Freedom Project, here's a nice video reminder about how Democrats voted to raise your taxes by more than $3000 on average per family:

Return of the Spendocrats

ROTR- Return of the SpendocratsDemocrats in the Senate, and an unfortunately high number of Republicans, failed the earmark test by rejecting a vote for an earmark moratorium. The Democrat Majority has pushed new taxes, and they plan on spending that money on a huge number of new programs. While the Republican Leadership in the House is getting serious about fixing Washington, we find ourselves witnessing the return of the Spendocrats to power. I turned to the Albuquerque Journal to make the point:

“Congress is no longer in session, and can’t inflict any more damage for a while.”

“Democrats in the House effectively raised taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars… Meanwhile, the House ramped up spending on domestic programs, effectively locking in years of higher spending.”

Republican Leader John Boehner's office is covering this tax hike, and they're fighting for strong responsible government in Washington. I'd be remiss not to point out that the Republicans lost their way prior to 2006, doing the same things the Democrats are doing now. Republican Leader Boehner promises that the GOP has changed their ways, and are going back to embracing Conservatism in government. They're fighting the return of the Spendocrats...

How the Dem Tax Increases Affect Us

Today the Democrats are fighting to raise your taxes. They're fighting to spend more of your money. They're fighting to say that more government is the answer and only more money in the bloated bureaucracy can save us. Apparently, the Democrats think you're rich if you're making over $31,850. Their tax increases are going to affect us all. We take a look at that thanks to Matt at WMD which brings us this info:

ROTR- Tim Ryan Doesn't Support Our EconomyAn analysis of the House Budget Resolution for FY 2009 (H.CON.RES.312) reveals that the U.S. economy will suffer huge losses in gross domestic product (GDP), job creation and personal income if implemented. Analysts at the Center for Data Analysis estimated the economic costs of the budget resolution by looking at the combined effects of provisions contained within the legislation along with the effects of allowing the Bush Tax Cuts of 2001 and 2003 to expire. The House’s budget could cause a loss of more than $100 billion in GDP in 2012 and could also reduce job creation by over 1 million jobs that year. Furthermore, as a result of the House budget, every taxpayer can expect to pay, on average, more than $2,000 in taxes in 2012, while also losing an average of $1,767 in personal income.

In addition to these national numbers, Matt posted the district-by-district job loss and tax increase numbers for Ohio. In Ohio's 17th, my district, we have a population of 609,894 people, 282,497 of which are employed in industries other than the farm industry. In 2012, after the Democrat tax increases, the average tax-payer in OH-17 can expect to pay $1,267 more in taxes while making $1,593 less because of the hit in the economy. OH-17 is projected to lose 1,931 job and the local economy to take a hit of $172,000,000 because of their actions. Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH17) won't be voting against this hit to our local economy. We have strong Conservative Republicans running to replace the Democrat majority, cut the excess spending, and lower your taxes. Think twice in November.

Democrats Want to Raise Your Taxes

The title of the post is simple enough, but the big story here is just how many Americans will be affected if the Democrats are successful in their new tax plans. Ed Morrissey has a post up about what the Senate's up to today, and I want to focus on one specific part, the tax hikes. The New York Sun has the story:

ROTR- Obama the Tax-HikerThe developments came as the Senate began a full day of votes on a $3 trillion Democratic budget blueprint for 2009. The nonbinding plan envisions a balanced budget in four years and promises generous increases for many domestic programs, but achieves those goals only by assuming major tax increases when Bush's tax cuts expire.

Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton both promise to reverse Mr. Bush's tax cuts for wealthier taxpayers, but the Democratic budget they'll be voting for would allow income tax rates to go up on individuals making as little as $31,850 and couples earning $63,700 or more.

If $31,850 is the new definition of rich, then America is doing much better than the media lets on. Obama, Clinton, and Democrats in general have been very persistent in insisting that they'll only repeal Bush's "tax cuts for the wealthy" but in all honesty, they'll be raising taxes on most of America. According to recent data, the median income (half of America falls below, half above) of the individual working American is $32,140. If the Democrats have their way, over half of this nation will throw more money into our broken government bureaucracy. It's not a talking point, it's the truth: Democrats want to raise your taxes.

Schuring Signs Tax Cutting Pledge

Tax cutting is a big issue, and real Conservatives want to reform taxes while cutting taxes. One person that gets that is candidate for Ohio's 16th district, Kirk Schuring. Americans for Tax Reform put out a release on Schuring's commitment:

ROTR- Schuring Signs Tax PledgeWASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Kirk Schuring, a Republican vying for Ohio’s 16th Congressional District seat, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The Pledge commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses … and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."

Norquist: “By signing the Pledge, Kirk Schuring demonstrates his allegiance to hard-working taxpayers nationwide, as well as dedication to taxpayers in Ohio. I applaud him for his leadership and dedication to the ideals of limited government.”

Norquist is a crusader for low taxes, simple taxes, and smart taxes. By signing this pledge, Schuring is committing himself to crusade for the same things. This pledge is a huge checkmark next to Schuring's name, and it shows that he's ready to put his political future on the record, and support smart fiscal policy.
