Bobby Jindal

Jindalmania on Leno

He's the future of the Republican Party, and he's doing a great job shaking things up in the state of Louisiana. I think all the McCain-Jindal talk is way premature, but it's not unrealistic to see Jindal on some ticket some time in the next 16 years. The Louisiana Governor was on Jay Leno's Show, and was pretty entertaining. A clip:

Bobby Jindal Shakes Things Up

Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is one of the great beacons of hope for America, and one of the great beacons of hope for Conservatism. He ran an honest, issue-oriented campaign, and he managed to win without making race an issue. Now, he's applying his principles and shaking things up. RedState on the Jindal shakeup:

Jindal said his Cabinet members — Davis and the heads of state agencies — will file financial disclosure reports on their income, holdings, liabilities and investment transactions.

ROTR- Governor Bobby JindalThe reports, which will extend to cabinet members’ spouses, will be due Jan. 15, 2009, he said.

Jindal also signed executive orders to:

* Require appointees to submit their resignation if they are indicted.
* Increase public access to state spending, including grants and contracts.
* Shift oversight of the hurricane public assistance program from the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, or GOHSEP, to the Louisiana Recovery Authority.

Jindal said he wants to remove the obstacles that are preventing police and fire departments from rebuilding more than two years after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The RedState rundown of how Bobby Jindal is fixing Louisiana goes on to talk about campaign ethics overhaul, ending the government bureaucracy, and applying the same standards to every state official. He's mainstreaming their emergency response system, making government transparent, and doing it all without taxing the hell out of the state of Louisiana. That my friends, is real Conservatism.
