Wyoming Results- LIVE!

Final Update: Fred Thompson secured the last delegate, making the final tally Mitt- 8, Fred- 3, Hunter- 1.

Tonight's Debates will be covered in a special liveblogging feature tonight.

Update: Almost all of the Wyoming results are in via USA Today, and Mitt Romney is the big winner with 8 delegates out of a potential 12. Fred Thompson received 2 delegates and Duncan Hunter received 1. One delegate is outstanding and I'll update this post when I found out who won. For note, it wasn't technically a "caucus", it was a county convention, where party officials, precinct captains, etc. go and vote for delegates who make public who they intend to support. Big win for Mitt! Make sure to stop by later tonight for debate liveblogging.

Supporting Phil Heimlich Over Jean Schmidt

Jean Schmidt made national headlines by calling John Murtha a coward. While this peeved off the left, it excited me, and I became a supporter of Schmidt for a while. This was up until I found out a couple things about Jean's record, that are quite a bit inconvenient. Allow me to close this post out with an excerpt from Heimlich's post on RedState about his announcement:

“While Chabot is a perennial target -- partly because of his district's makeup and partly because Democrats think he is more conservative than his constituents -- Schmidt in the neighboring 2nd has become a top target strictly because of her personality. Schmidt has drawn a serious primary opponent in former Hamilton County Commissioner Phil Heimlich. Democrats and Republicans alike know the seat will only be competitive next year if Schmidt clears the GOP primary.”

ROTR- Phil Heimlich, Candidate for CongressIn other words, if I win the primary, the seat stays Republican; if Rep. Schmidt wins the primary, it likely goes Democrat.

Aside from the practical political reasons to nominate the strongest candidate, my goal is to work to restore honor and dignity to this position. You deserve a representative in Congress who is respected and who respects others – including those he or she disagrees with.

You also deserve a representative who will be a good steward of your tax dollars. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported recently that Jean Schmidt has become the biggest pork spender in the tri-state congressional delegation. As The Enquirer noted in October, Rep. Schmidt inserted $14.5 million in pork spending in the latest budget — more than any local Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana member of Congress of either party. Among the items Rep. Schmidt has supported through her votes for pork spending are:

* $300 million for sand to replenish beaches in California and New Jersey.
* $75 million for oyster restoration in New York, Maryland, Virginia and Connecticut.
* $229,000 for dairy education in Iowa.
* $180,000 for “hydroponic tomato production.”
* A $500,000 swimming pool in California.
* A million dollars for a “Mystic Aquarium” in Connecticut.

Our neighboring Representative Steve Chabot voted against each of these — just as I would have.

Bob Latta Wins

ROTR- Congressman Bob LattaDave from NixGuy is informing the world that Bob Latta has defeated Robin Weirauch, keeping Ohio's 5th Congressional district firmly in the hands of the GOP. This is a sign that the "Democrat Revolution" that liberal pundits are pretending is happening isn't as piercing as they want it to be. The story:

(Columbus) - Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett issued the following statement regarding Bob Latta’s victory in the 5th Congressional District special election:

“Bob Latta won this race despite all the firepower state and national Democrats could provide. He held back the 20-to-one fundraising advantage of majority Democrats, the vast resources of Big Labor and the personal appeals of Barack Obama, John Edwards and Nancy Pelosi.

“The outcome is a clear rejection of a popular governor who spent enormous political capital on this race, and it’s a sign that voters are tired of the worn-out rhetoric from a party that has nothing more to offer than a sad fixation on yesterday’s news.

Special Election Tomorrow

A few days ago I wrote a post bringing you information on the battle for Ohio's 5th, between Conservative Bob Latta and liberal Robin Weirauch. Hot Air is making note that the Weirauch ad also attacks Hillary Clinton. Along with all this, Bizzyblog breaks out the dealbreakers on the Weirauch campaign:
ROTR- Ultra-Liberal EMILY's List

(Part 2) Weirauch is “honored” to have the support of the pro-abortion group EMILY’s List (EL), which opposed the Supreme Court decision earlier this year that upheld the Federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, and requires its candidates to strictly adhere to its issue positions. EL wants partial birth abortion resinstated; therefore, so does Weirauch. No wonder the EL endorsement is not on Weirauch’s web site — which is BizzyBlog Dealbreaker Number 1.

EMILY's List is a radical group which not only supports partial-birth abortion, but only selects females to endorse, and has an ultra-liberal agenda. Robin Weirauch is the type of ultra-liberal they like to support. Just another reason to vote for Bob Latta...

Ohio Report: Bob Latta

Special elections are often ignored or under-covered, and they shouldn't be. I've decided to delve into some Ohio politics outside of my district a bit, to bring you some news on the Latta v. Weirauch race. I know I do have quite a few readers from across the Buckeye State. Here's Bob's site, and here's a well-deserved scathing criticism of his opponent worth watching:

Latta is a Conservative running to represent part of my state, and Weirauch is a liberal representing the values of the Kossacks, San Francisco, and the Far Left. Am I the only one that thinks this is a no brainer?
