Sarkozy May Re-Up France's Commitment
- Posted by Justin Higgins on February 26th, 2008 in
In Afghanistan, that is. Sarkozy, the new Conservative President, has been discussing the possibility of sending more troops to the country with advisors, and media speculation is at a fever pitch. Via Yahoo News, here's the potential good news from a nation that would greatly assist in our fight against terrorism:
PARIS (Reuters) - France may send hundreds of ground troops to east Afghanistan where NATO-led forces are fighting al Qaeda-backed insurgents, Le Monde newspaper reported on Tuesday.
It said the move would be part of a new Afghan policy being worked out by President Nicolas Sarkozy and his advisers.
France has about 1,900 soldiers under NATO's Afghan command, most of them based in relatively calm Kabul, and Le Monde said the fresh troops would be deployed outside the capital.
"Their destination would be zones of potentially fierce fighting, preferably the eastern region of Afghanistan close to the tribal areas of Pakistan," it said.
Sarkozy believes that France needs a more active role in both NATO and in the United Nations, and he wants to re-up France's commitment to defeating Islamic terrorism. If Sarkozy follows through, we can seriously start talking about a new strong American ally.
Insurgents in France Cause Mayhem
- Posted by Justin Higgins on November 28th, 2007 in
I'm calling it an insurgency, and I'm calling it terrorism. As I posted, there are new riots in France, but the word riots simply isn't powerful enough to describe these events. First off, Michelle Malkin has the truth about who these radicals are:

Youths, many of them Arab and black children of immigrants, again appeared to be lashing out at police and other targets seen to represent a French establishment they feel has left them behind.
As I was just discussing with a frequent commenter here at ROTR, this is an issue about French Muslims not integrating with society, being left in the ghettos, and left to radicalize. That's what has been happening. Here are some more details about the nature of this insurgency:
The overnight violence was more intense than during the three weeks of rioting in 2005, said the official, Patrice Ribeiro. He said “genuine urban guerrillas with conventional weapons and hunting weapons” were among the rioters.
On Monday night, youths were seen firing buckshot at police and reporters. About 30 of 82 injured officers were hit by buckshot, Ribeiro told The Associated Press. Rioters also hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at police, authorities said.
Sounds like an insurgency to me! Yahoo News has a rundown of the supposed cause and reasoning behind the 3-day old riots, and more details about the attacks. Libraries and police stations are being targeted, as well as hundreds of cars.
France Burning, Again?

Nidra Poller of Pajamas Media is reporting that France is burning, again. This seems to be another youth riot problem, and it'll be interesting to see how new French President Nicolas Sarkozy reacts. Here's Nidra's report:
Fires are raging in the banlieue tonight. Two boys aged 15 and 16 riding on a mini-motorcycle (prohibited on the road) hit a police car this afternoon in Villiers-le-Bel. The boys, who weren’t wearing helmets, were killed. Hundreds of enraged men and boys are tearing up the neighborhood.
Le Parisien reports that they burned down a Peugeot dealership, sacked a train station and shops, tore up a McDonald’s, stole the day’s receipts and attacked customers, smashed and burned cars, and are still going strong. A police commissioner who tried to talk to the mob was attacked with iron rods; his face and skull are fractured. A police station was burned down, seven policemen were injured.
Can you imagine if something like this happened in the United States? We'd have the National Guard out so quickly that it'll make Waco look like a small incursion in the middle of nowhere. It just shows you how far Europe has fallen, and how spineless law enforcement officials are over there in dealing with radicals.
Idiocy Across the Globe

South Carolina's contestant in the Miss Teen USA pageant is an idiot. She's an attractive, inarticulate idiot. In case you missed it, she gave a rambling retarded answer to a question about why Americans can't seem to find the US on a map:
So is it possible, that there could be people out there in the world that are actually stupider than Miss Teen South Carolina? How about a large percentage of a French audience and a French man who made it onto their version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' This is something you need to see:
Yep, idiocy is one thing that permeates all borders, infects all cultures, and needs to be combated wherever it's found. These videos make me feel like a freakin' genius.
Analyzing the Sarkozy Win
- Posted by Justin Higgins on May 6th, 2007 in
As reported, the next President of France is Nicolas Sarkozy. This victory follows the Angela Merkel victory in Germany and the post-Iraq re-election of Tony Blair, pro-America candidates. Europe is starting to realize that there's an ideological battle raging, unfortunately, just as Americans are starting to lose sight of that very same battle. Perhaps it's because Europe is much closer to the front lines. Let's go to the analysis:
John Bambenek writes that France Becomes Respectable Again, at BlogCritics Magazine. Great excerpt:
Many people went to the airwaves to diagnose Sarkozy with mental illness, much like leftists in this country do against George W. Bush. Voters in France have rejected the fear-mongering campaign of the socialists, much like voters rejected similar attempts by Democrats to do the same in this country. Once again we see demonstrated that in the battle of ideas, socialists fight unarmed.
I have to agree that there's a very strong parallel between George W. Bush and Nicolas Sarkozy. Both were proven strong during tragedy (9/11 for Bush and the Paris Riots for Sarkozy), and both chose to respond with force. The socialists in both countries (called Democrats here), hate it.
Erick at Redstate posts a short quip about Royal's "violent" lie:
The French were apparently not persuaded by the hysterical antics of the socialist who screamed that a Sarkozy election would mean violence -- perhaps the pre-existing and on going riots were enough to persuade the French that they needed tough leadership to halt their nation from the further slide to hell.
We should find out shortly if Sarkozy will truly reverse the slide. You can bet that the radical Islamic youth and the lazy socialists will once again hit the streets, and if things turn violent (which they have a history of), we'll see if Sarkozy really does jetwash "the scum."
