Conservatism

A New Conservative Generation

I was reading a post on the GOP's blog, and it really got me thinking about the generation gap and interest in politics. A friend of mine sent the post to me and remarked, "We're becoming less and less of an anomaly." The post tells the story of Elizabeth Berry, a junior in college who is supporting John McCain. A new generation of Republicans is really out there, waiting to be a tapped resource. I'm hopefully going to be helping to grow that resource.

ROTR- MeI received word today that I've been selected for the RNC's summer internship program in Washington, D.C., specifically helping with the RNC's eCampaign Division. It's a magnificent opportunity that will give me hands-on experience for several months working with the party that can reform this nation. My blog will be down over the summer, but I'll be blogging until then, and I'll be giving my readers updates up until I leave for D.C.. Housing is going to be a financial burden for me, so if you'd like to chip in a few bucks to the Paypal on the right, I'd appreciate it. There's a new generation of Conservatives and Republicans out there, and I'm going to spend this summer learning how to better tap into them.

Splitting the Coalition

Even our side has a few sore losers. Jason Werner ran a campaign to be the Republican nominee for Congress in Ohio's 10th, and he was thoroughly trounced by Jim Trakas. Instead of re-upping his commitment to strong Conservative values, and trying to change the party from the inside, he made the idiotic declaration that he's changing parties:

ROTR- Jason Werner, IdiotI encourage everyone who voted for me to check out the new party, in which I am now involved. Anyone conservative enough to vote for Jason Werner, the man who is bold enough to say he is pro-life with no exceptions, the man who claims he has solutions for our messed up tax system, and the man who is bold enough to say he is discriminate with regard to family, in that he is against homosexuality, should feel relieved with the Constitution Party.

Let me make it clear, that I have nothing against third parties or the Constitution Party in particular, but I have a problem with people giving up on the Reagan Coalition. It's even worse that he gave up on the Reagan Coalition because he lost. This type of idiocy doesn't belong on our side, ever, and Jason Werner needs a reality check.

A Six-Word Slogan for Conservatism

Update: On the other side of the spectrum, Michelle Malkin is soliciting suggestions for a six word slogan to describe the New York Times. I'm willing to bet they're not going to turn out too positive.

A big six-word craze is flying around the blogosphere, prompted by the morons over at the Freakonomics Blog. These are the same people that proposed a contest asking readers what type of terrorist attack would be most devastating. LGF has opened their comments for the same contest. In response, I am challenging my readers to give me a six-word slogan for Conservatism. Liberals are also welcome to participate...

Coalesce, They'll Say

ROTR- John McCainCoalesce they'll say, John McCain can beat Hillary Clinton. Coalesce they'll say, John McCain is a war hero. Coalesce they'll say, he has the support of the establishment. Screw the idea of coalescing. John McCain had a 10 point lead in the moderate state of Florida, won the endorsements of amnesty-panderers, and he only won the state by 5, and that was after vicious slander after vicious slander. No, I will not coalesce. It's time to fight.

Rudy Giuliani's going to be out. The preliminary talk is that he's going to be endorsing McCain, but exit polls show his support breaks to Romney, and that's because his supporters are moderately Conservative. This is a two-man race, Huckabee is going to fall apart. If we're going to coalesce, we need to coalesce around Mitt Romney, to defeat Juan McCain. Coalesce I say, for the sake of the party.

Tomorrow Night: ROTR State of the Union

ROTR- State of the UnionTomorrow night, I'm going to be releasing the 2008 Right on the Right State of the Union address. Due to the fact that I'll be snowboarding on Monday and missing the actual State of the Union, I thought it'd be prudent to release my view on the nation before the President releases his view. I will be talking about what we managed to accomplish (or what we didn't accomplish) in the last year, and what we need to accomplish this year, the final year of the Bush Presidency. Expect some interesting and innovative thoughts on issues like the economy, energy, the budget, and immigration. Even with a Democrat Congress, we can take steps to implement Conservative ideas and policies. Shortly after I post my State of the Union, I hope you'll stick around for a special live event analyzing the Florida Republican Primary and what the President is likely to say in his State of the Union address. All of this should kick off around 6 PM in the evening, with the live event tentatively scheduled for 7 PM Eastern. Stay tuned for more information.
